Make-A-Wish

Chi Omega’s Commitment

to Make-A-Wish

Make-A-Wish Foundation® has been Chi Omega’s national philanthropy since 2002. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® enriches lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Make-A-Wish® experience has a life-changing impact on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities. A wish experience is often a source of inspiration for children undergoing difficult medical treatments and a positive force that helps them overcome their obstacles. A wish experience is often more than a dream come true: It’s the catalyst that rekindles their belief in themselves and the promise of their future. Chi Omegas fund raise and volunteer for this wonderful Foundation to understand the importance of service to others as a founding principle of our Sisterhood.

– Wish Granters –

The bond between Chi Omega and The Make-A-Wish Foundation® is one that lasts longer than our college years. Dozens of girls in the Kappa Zeta chapter have made the extensive efforts to get trained and become Wish Granters. As a Wish Granter, you work directly with the Wish family, helping the child decide their “one true wish”! It is definitely a rewarding experience interacting with the Wish child and their family and seeing the joy that granting their greatest desire can bring.

Hosted in the Spring, Wish Week is a week long event where the Kappa Zeta chapter here at Texas Tech hosts multiple events to raise money and awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. This year Week Week consisted of activities, giveback nights, a dessert party, and a concert all to help the cause. Ultimately our goal for Wish Week is to get students involved, contribute enough money to grant a couple of wishes, and overall raise awareness in the Lubbock community for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.

– Silent Auction –

One of the ways we kick off our Fall fundraising season is with our annual Silent Auction. Kappa Zeta’s Silent Auction is held during Parent’s Weekend, this gives our parents the opportunity to be able to see first hand how we fund raise for The Make-A-Wish Foundation®. There is a catered dinner, raffle, silent auction, and a Wish Family who shares their personal experience with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. If you would like to donate items or have any questions, please contact our Silent Auction Chair Reegan George at (reegan.george@ttu.edu).
